About Us

Our Journey

"The Journey is the reward"

Avinta Himalayas is the brainchild of two sisters, Seerat and Poorvee Khanka who wanted to make Himalayan tourism in remote areas sustainibly accessible. For them, the experience of the journey to reach the actual destination is more important. Right now they are on their journey to establish Avinta Himalayas as one of the leading players in the adventure tourism sector.

Avinta Himalayas is mainly based out of Sankri in Uttarakhand, howeverm it operates across the Indian Himalayas.

Poorvee Khanka, Co-Founder and Director - Human Resources

A girl with the quirk of collecting handbags and watches, left the city life behind to formulate Avinta Himalayas only to surprise everyone around her with her chameleon capabilities. A handbag collector in the city to a firewood collector in the village, chameleons would shy away in front of this girl. Poorvee has experienced locations like Bir-Billing, Tosh, Narkanda, Kufri, Landour, Kullu, Kalpa, Nako, etc. in the Himalayas in the past and wants to keep this adventure going as long as she can. Poorvee brings forward-thinking to the venture with an ambition to support the locals and empower women in the area.

Seerat Khanka, Co-Founder and Director Marketing & Logistics

If ‘Mountain Enthusiast’ was a title, she would have been a forerunner in the race for the same. Till February 2019, Seerat was working in Gurgaon for a multinational company in a typical 9-5 job. With the itch to do something which not only brought happiness to her but also to the people who share the same passion for the Himalayas as she does, Seerat quit her job to create Avinta Himalayas along with her sister. Having travelled extensively in the Himalayas (yet still a fraction), she understands the needs of modern day travellers and envisions to eliminate distress caused by unhygienic accommodation and cold hospitality.

Pramod Rawat, Director Trek Operations

Pramod joined Avinta Himalayas as a core member in October 2020. Pramod is a certified mountaineer from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi. He has successfully completed Basic, Advance and NOLs (National Outdoor Leadership) course from NIM.
